It’s official – a musical version of The Princess Bride is hotting up its development.

Directed by Rob Reiner and released in 1987, the film is a fantasy adventure film based on William Goldman’s 1973 novel of the same name. Goldman also wrote the screenplay. It has since gained a cult status.

According to a new audition notice, it is now being produced by Jeffrey Seller (one of the masterminds behind the success of Hamilton) with the book courtesy of Smash bookwriters Bob Martin and Rick Elice. Alex Timbers (Moulin Rouge!, Beetlejuice) has been tapped to direct.

Now also attached are Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, the duo behind Frozen’s colossal success with standards like “Let It Go”, “Into the Unknown” and “Monster”. Tom Kitt (Next to Normal) will also be the music supervisor.

The show is having a work session this year, with further plans to be revealed.

The Princess Bride tells the story of Buttercup, a young woman in the fictional kingdom of Florin, and Westley, her beloved farmhand.
